Privacy policy – Best betting

Only the data that a bookmaker-comparison site needs is processed on Best betting. The UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 set the rules, and this text carries out the duty to inform under Article 13 of the UK GDPR.

Controller

The controller as defined in Article 4(7) UK GDPR is whoever operates Best betting. Name, address and e-mail address are available at bestbookiesuk.com, and the same route serves any data protection question.

Data processed

A log entry is written by the server for every page request, holding the IP address, date and time, requested address, amount of data transferred, referring page and browser type. Security and the detection of abuse are the reasons, and logs are erased or abbreviated after 90 days so that nobody can be identified from them. Someone who writes in provides a name, an e-mail address and the message, used only for replying. No accounts exist, nothing is deposited and no bet is placed, so payment details and identity papers are never collected.

Lawful bases

Legitimate interests in a working, secure site (Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR) support the logs, abuse protection and replies to messages. Cookies beyond the strictly necessary, along with audience measurement, rely on consent (Article 6(1)(a) UK GDPR read with regulation 6 of PECR); they start only once consent exists, and consent can be withdrawn at any time without touching earlier processing (Article 7(3)). Automated decisions and profiling are not part of the site.

Recipients and transfers

Data is not sold. Hosting, content delivery and e-mail are supplied by processors acting on the controller’s instructions (Article 28 UK GDPR), and public authorities may receive data when the law requires. Transfers outside the United Kingdom happen only to countries under adequacy regulations or with appropriate safeguards, namely the International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum (Article 44 onwards).

Rights

Individuals may request access (Article 15), rectification (Article 16), erasure (Article 17), restriction (Article 18) and portability (Article 20), and may object to processing based on legitimate interests (Article 21). A request is answered without undue delay and within one month; for complex cases a further two months may be added under Article 12(3).

Retention

Each category is kept only while its purpose lasts: logs up to 90 days, correspondence until the matter is settled plus the time needed to defend against any claim. Supplying data in a message is optional, but a reply cannot be given without it.

Supervisory authority

The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) is the supervisory authority, and anyone who believes the processing breaks data protection law may complain to it (Article 77 UK GDPR).
