Bookmakers tend to judge each other by their football offering, so the sport serves as the common yardstick for site comparison. This section sets out what that yardstick contains.
Match odds, tipsters’ predictions, futsal and the “soccer” label seen in other markets are all part of it. Prices come as fractions (11/4, evens) at most bookmakers and as decimals on exchanges and in many apps.
The whistle-to-whistle code, an industry agreement and not law, has kept betting adverts off television since 1 August 2019 for the five minutes before and after a live event, ahead of the 9pm watershed. Premier League clubs agreed on 13 April 2023 to withdraw gambling sponsors from matchday shirt fronts from 2026/27.
